    17 Oct 2000 19:15:08 Ghosthunter Update

    Dear All,

As promised we'll be keeping you all updated with screenings for Ghosthunter - recently completed - as soon as they're confirmed. It's our next priority to organise a cast and crew screening in London and all will be welcome. We'll also be keeping you informed of the films progress as we begin entering film festivals and start the process of sales and distribution.

Other recent news is that the publication of the book is progressing nicely. Also included with the book will be a DVD of the film and some additional special features. We've been working all year with Focal Press to include the DVD and have filmed additional support material just in case we got the go ahead. This has now happened thanks to some sponsorship from Kodak. Advance orders of the book are available from Focalpress.com and Amazon.co.uk websites - ISBN No. 0-240-51624-9. More information on the book can be found on our website www.amuletfilms.com.

Best wishes for now and see you at the screening.

    Dear all,

You can now download the FilmFour documentary on the making of Ghosthunter from our website. It's a 6 minute piece, featured last month in "Short Attention Span Cinema". The file size is a measly 2MB - so you shouldn't have any problems.

Also new to the website is an article on the film in this quarters edition of Kodak's "In Camera" magazine and the Ghosthunter poster. In fact the publicity section has undergone a recent change with all the material now local to our website.

The post production of the film continues nicely. CFC (The Computer Film Company) our new effects house are hard at work and several of the effects are complete. We are also well into the sound edit and hope to start pre-mixing next month at the Korda Theatre, Shepperton, with Robin O'Donoghue. His credits include, Shakespeare in Love, Hamlet, Lost in Space and The Madness of King George. As the latest member of our executive crew he will be added to the website shortly.

The final manuscript of the book "How To Make Great Short Feature Films: The Making Of Ghosthunter", by Ian Lewis, is now with Focal Press and will be going into production shortly.

Finally, we've been working with Future Forests (www.futureforests.com) to make Ghosthunter a carbon neutral production. That means that the total energy output is calculated to find the carbon dioxide emissions for the film. Future Forests then plant the relevant number of trees in sustainable forestry projects. A unique project - so watch the website for further updates.

Very best wishes, Simon & Alison

    Dear all,

Our website is currently undergoing some re-development and new content will be added. Also read some of the publicity that Ghosthunter is generating, just follow the link to "Publicity" from the home page. Also, Kodak's "In Camera" magazine will be featuring Ghosthunter next month.

After a slow start our edit is progressing and we have just completed the first cut. Barrington (composer) and Mark & Sam (Sound editors) are now involved and have just started their work on the film. Simon (Editor) has been very busy with his feature film (The Man Who Cried) and has had less time than expected to spend with us. To help speed things up Simon (director) will be editing on one of the office computers with Adobe Premiere. Not quite the usual route (an off-off-line edit) but this will enable him to look at selected sequences prior to the time we do have in the Avid suite. Expected release date is June/July.

Quantel have invited us to Cannes for the festival this year. we'll be taking a teaser/trailer of Ghosthunter together with some treatments currently in development with writer, Clifton Stewart.

    Best wishes, Simon & Alison

    Dear All,

After a long delay we are now able to get on with the edit of the film. Eddie Hamilton, our previous editor, has had to drop out of the project due to an on-going commitment and we've been looking around for a suitable replacement. Simon Cozens came highly recommended to us and he's agreed to work on the film. Simon will start digitising the film into the Avid through next week and we hope to get a rough assembly of the film together by the end of next weekend.

Also a selection of our production stills are now available to view on-line. Follow the link to the stills, from our website.

    More news soon.

    Dear all,

The website has now been updated following production and the Directors production diary is now on line.

Editing of the film will start very soon, our editor (Eddie Hamilton) is currently finishing off his movie "Dead Babies", for Tristar Columbia. By the end of the week we intend to be in the edit suite and under way. We have a lot of post production work to be done, once we've locked picture we'll start the sound edit at Twickenham Studios with Mark & Sam Auguste, Quantel will begin the digital effects work and Barrington will start composing music for the film.

All in all production was very successful and we must pay homage to the entire crew. The atmosphere on set was excellent and we have some great production stills that we intend to get on-line in the near future. Focal Press and the documentary team for Film Four managed to interview all of the key personnel. The documentary will follow the film through post production and we'll let you know how things develop.

    Best Wishes, Simon & Alison.

    Dear all,

It's been a very exciting week on location filming Ghosthunter. The crew worked extremely hard and we all look forward to our final days work at Pinewood Studios on Tuesday. We were visited on set by various VIP's from Kodak, Panavision, Quantel and Focal Press, also our Art department enjoyed the support and advice of Peter Lamont, our Production Design Consultant. All were very impressed with the rushes. Maurice Gillett our executive Gaffer proved invaluable to our electrics department and charmed all with his anecdotes.

We'll have a full report of the production on our site in the next few days.

    Best wishes, Amulet Films.
